The first Chaffcombe coffee morning on Weds Oct 7th, after the summer break, was a happy and chatty gathering of SIXTY ONE people!
It was the very first event in the newly shaped hall, since the improvements were completed only days before. The significantly larger hall space was admired and much appreciated. The kitchen, albeit smaller, is still plenty big enough, while the enlarged serving hatch is a welcome improvement. The new store room is also a great boon.
Rowland Butler was loudly applauded by everyone for his tireless planning and work for hundreds of hours over many weeks, with some help from volunteers, on the major alterations.
Many people thanked Rowland individually during the course of the morning and congratulated him on the success of the project. Mary Butler was also thanked for spearheading the massive fund raising that helped to make the work possible.
Donations to RNLI totalled £244, for coffee and cake, bring and buy and RNLI Christmas cards. Thank you to everyone who donated so generously.
The next coffee morning is Weds Nov 4th 10.30-12, generous donations for coffee and cake etc to Landmine Clearance.
Come for the full 90 mins or just pop in for 10-15 mins – you’ll receive a warm welcome whether a villager or a visitor.
