Wessex Water – water main improvement work
– A358 to Mill House Chaffcombe Chard.
As part of our programme of improvements to our water supply network, we are planning to replace water mains within the fields from the A358 to Mill House Chaffcombe (by Deardens), Chard.
The existing 4” reinforced cement main has been identified as nearing the end of its economic life and will be replaced with modern plastic pipes.
The extent of the work, which is programmed to start on 1September 2014, is shown on the plan on the Parish’s noticeboards and will take 6 weeks (approx.) to complete.
We appreciate this work will cause some disruption and our construction methods and programme will be determined by the need to minimise the inconvenience and to maintain access during the work.
We anticipate that the mains will be installed by using the following methods open cut, pipe bursting and sliplining.
During the next few weeks we will be writing to all residents within the immediate vicinity of the work. We will do our best to resolve any specific problems before it begins.
Customers will be given written notification and full information regarding any planned interruptions to the water supply.
Permission from Highways has been given to close the road if necessary but this is unlikely to happen.
