I need to make you aware of a significant change to what has been previously communicated regarding the pedestrian access being provided throughout the duration of the works to Chard Reservoir, along Chaffcombe Road.

It was the intention to provide access through the road closure, however, the ground conditions were not as anticipated and following the guidance provided by a highway consultant, based on that recommendation, it was decided that due to the required road widths needing to be maintained, the only decision is for the walkway to be retracted.

Whilst I completely appreciate this might be seen as a disappointment, safety must be a priority as it is not something Somerset Council or Kier will compromise on.

I trust you can appreciate the complexities of this decision, but I wanted to make you aware of this change immediately, hence the time of this email.
