We have been blessed with a beautiful Good Friday. I hope you have had a nourishing day in whatever you have been doing. It was fantastic to be able to welcome a number of families on the grass outside St John’s this morning for a Hot Cross Bun picnic. It was very well attended and much enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Rev Michelle for planning and executing it so well. Thank you also to all the other things that have been happening in the Benefice – it has been very much appreciated by many.
A quick update as we move through the Triduum towards Easter Sunday…
Rev Michelle has written some text for a Quiet Day for Holy Saturday, which you might want to use tomorrow in that ‘inbetween space’ of emptiness between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It is such a powerful day – do allow yourself the time and space to reflect on the enormity of Good Friday and what is to come in the Resurrection.
I have also put together ‘an hour at the Cross’; which is very simply an hour of music and images related to the Cross. https://youtu.be/XGssbAXm6EI
You can also find a video for Stations of the Cross in Spring, which is a collection of spring images and R S Thomas poems following the traditional titles of the Stations. https://youtu.be/VK40sCF1RXE
You may also like to use Rev Judith’s material that has been sent out to those without internet access, and provides an excellent range of reflections for Holy Week.
Do make a visit to your local churchyard and enjoy the spring flowers and Easter gardens. Take along something to add and leave at ‘the foot of the cross’. A massive thank you to all of you who have been involved in making the churchyards look so pretty.
