Please see attached a sheet (to follow) with our Christmas services and events listed for your information. Please do feel free to circulate this more widely!
It is a different year this year but hopefully what we are able to do provides a varied approach that offers something for most people in the current climate.
It is wonderful that all of our churches are preparing a nativity and / or advent displays outside or in porches so that people can visit those at any time. Thank you to all those involved. There is a wide variety of creativity going on so do get round the parishes if you can!
In Tatworth, Thorncombe and Winsham there will also be a trail of stars that you can follow around various points in the villages that bring you to the displays at the churches. Primarily aimed at children, do engage with them whoever you are! Those trails will be getting prepared over the next few days once the displays are ready and further information will be available online and circulated in due course.
It is very welcome that we will be able to sing outside, and we have three events planned for people to come and join in with informal carol singing.
For all gathered services and carol singing we do strictly have to adhere to current Covid-19 regulations. Particularly under Tier 2 this means that in attending either services in church (Christmas Eve or Christmas Day), and also outside events (carols), it is vital that you only attend alone, in your household group, or with your support bubble if that applies. From 23 December that bubble also includes your special Christmas Bubble where you have formed one. You must remain in those contexts and not ‘join up’ with others at the service or event.
The online services listed on the attached will be pre-recorded and will go public on the website and YouTube from 00:01 on the dates stated, so you can access them at anytime from then on.
The Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services inside churches will be a spoken service of Holy Communion as we remain restricted on singing inside at this time.
There will also be a Book of Common Prayer 8am service at Forde Abbey as usual on Christmas Day.
Reverend Michelle is making a series of videos aimed at young families through this season, and you can find the first one here:
There will be a new one each week leading to Christmas.
Tomorrow we are back to gathered worship in Forde Abbey (8am), Winsham (10am) and Tatworth (4pm). There will also be an audio recording of a short reflection and the reading online.
With every blessing
